Evergreen star Dev Anand, one of the icons of Indian cinema, died on Sunday after suffering a massive cardiac arrest in London. He was 88.
Dev Anand began his career with ‘Hum Ek Hain’ in 1946. However, he got his first big break with ‘Ziddi’ in 1948.The flamboyant star is also known for giving big hits like ‘Baazi’, ‘Guide’, ‘Jewel Thief’, ‘Johnny Mera Naam’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, ‘CID’ and ‘Tere Mere Sapne’.
An era of Indian Cinema ended with the death of the legend.
Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif has been named the Sexiest Woman in the World for the third year in a row, beating off competition from her contemporaries like Freida Pinto and Priyanka Chopra.
“I”m very happy that I have made it to the top of Eastern Eye”s list again. England is off course a very special place to me and I think it”s very sweet to be voted the sexiest by them. I just want to thank everyone for the support,” said the 26-year-old actress.
The list was calculated on the basis of the most photographed women in the world and the most in-demand with film producers and fans. ‘Although Bollywood heroines dominated the top 10, the list for 2010 included stunning beauty pageant winners, top actresses from around the world, pop stars and TV personalities. That is why Katrina should be deservedly proud of her amazing win,’ Eastern Eye showbiz editor Asjad Nazir said.
Priyanka Chopra narrowly missed out on the top spot by finishing second for the second year in a row. Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat came eighth, a spot behind Kareena Kapoor.
Bipasha Basu occupied the third spot and Freida Pinto, India’s most popular export to Hollywood only managed a fourth position, while Lara Dutta rounded off the top five.
Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri father and British mother. She spent her childhood in Hawaii and later moved to England. She first came to the notice of filmmaker Kaizad Gustad while she was modelling for a jewellery campaign in London and that led to her break in Bollywood in the film ‘Boom’.
The beauty of Katrina can be enjoyed in the song “Sheila ki Jawaani” in Tees Maar Khan movie. At the end of the year of 2010, Katrina has put fire on the screen. The song is the most sexiest, seductive and can be voted as item song of the year. Click here for the the song. enjoy it :

‘Desi girl’ Priyanka Chopra has beaten off competition from fellow Bollywood beauties Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor to bag the title of the most kissable star.
The 28-year-old actress who became an instant pin-up with her turn in a gold bikini for ”Dostana” topped the survey conducted by men’s magazine ”Fantasy”.
‘It was a close run but Priyanka Chopra’s bee-stung lips made her a perfect candidate to top this list,’ said the magazine about the winning candidate. Aishwarya came second while Kareena Kapoor grabbed the third spot.
Bollywood”s favourite Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu came fourth and Katrina Kaif rounded off the top five.

According to a poll by a leading UK magazine, Katrina Kaif is the Sexiest Asian Woman of 2008, and John Abraham is the Sexiest Asian Man of 2008. Last year’s winner Bipasha Basu was pushed to second spot by Katrina Kaif. Katrina Kaif was voted ‘Sexiest Asian Woman Alive’ for 2008. The poll is an annual shindig run by The ethnic Asian magazine in the UK.
“I’m very surprised. I really didn’t expect this” – was the reaction of Katrina. This in spite of the fact that Katrina doesn’t think she’s sexy. “Maybe the way I define sexy is different from the general definitions. Maybe the people who have voted for me think differently from me… thank god for that! The beautiful thing about this world is that there’re so many different opinions.”
“The important thing is to enjoy this moment. I smile about these things. Such momentary honor makes me want achieve a lot better. They help me take the next step.”
Katrina Kaif was born and brought up in London to a Kashmiri Father and a British Mother. While her stint at modeling in London, she came to the notice of filmmaker Kaizad Gustad and bagged an important role in his film Boo. It was this move that encouraged Katrina to take on to acting in Bollywood as her full-fledged career and shift her base to Mumbai. After quite a long time, I have seen a cool and entertaining film. Aamir khan, as producer of the film, tasted the success once again. “Jane Tu Ya Jaane Na” is an enjoyable film. This film is directed by director Abbas Tyrewala and we can give him full marks for this film.
“Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” is a simple, sweet, teen-comedy film. It is a film of a group of college kids. In the group, Jai Singh Rathore (Imran Khan) and Aditi (Genelia D’souza) are the central characters of that college gang in focus. In a nutshell, story of the film revolves around two very close friends (Jai and Aditi) who can do anything for each other but fail to find lover in each other. But finally the film traces the journey of Jai and Aditi discovering that their friendship has turned into love and they’re actually in love.
The film has focused the life style of young generation of today. People will also love funny names of the characters like Rats (Jai) and Meow (Aditi, loves cats that’s why Meow). Genelia D’souza (Aditi alias Meow), the next-door cute girl, steals the whole show in the film. The actress is a real live-wire of the film and with her beautiful eyes, very clearly conveys those annoying feelings of jealousy, confusion, irritability and fake happiness without any problem.
The end is no surprise, but the way it arrived, that makes “JaaneTu ya jaane na” such a refreshing, enjoyable movie. The characters are real, believable and endearing. Supporting actor Naseeruddin Shah, as Jai’s dead Rajput father who speaks from his portrait on the wall, has done his job magnificently.
It’s a film of young generation of today but free from sex and violence. Its a clean, cool and entertaining film based on relationship of two college friends which can be enjoyed with family members of all ages.

Bollywood wow girl Bipasha Basu (Bips) was named the sexiest Asian Woman in the world on Friday by Britain’s largest selling Asian newspaper. This is the second time for Bipasha Basu who won the title. She was also the winner in 2005.
She said: “I am glad I got the crown back and will try to hold onto it this time. I think sexiness goes beyond just looks and is a total package, from your personality to the way you carry yourself in your everyday life.” She further added – “sexy is not a dirty word. Indians have used the word ‘sexy’ confusedly. Society changes with time and so do definitions. The term sexy has gone beyond a beautiful body. Today it encompasses talent, screen presence, personality and intelligence too.”
