Drought-hit Latur

‘Water Train’  carrying wagons of water for parched Latur in Maharashtra state of India, which is battling the worst drought ever. The train is expected to reach Latur today. This will give a temporary relief to the affected people there.

    Wow the drought is incredible there in Latur…it’s always so sad to see the effects of drought. We have it here in Australia and our poor farmers struggle dreadfully as do their poor cattle.

    One of the terrifying memories of my childhood was watching the movie “Mama India”, back in 1964, I think. It was the deluge of flooding…but drought, I think, is the prelude of flooding…
    I’m so sorry for the suffering caused to your people, by these natural calamities…for which we are too naturally weak to respond adecuately!
